The McGrath Foundation is one of Australia’s most well-known charities. The organisation raises funds to support McGrath Breast Care Nurses, who provide free physical, psychological, and emotional care to individuals and families facing breast cancer. They routinely manage large volumes of event textiles, merchandise, and unused apparel—much of which previously had limited end-of-life solutions.
The Foundation approached UPPAREL with key hurdles:
UPPAREL created a tailored program to collect and process surplus event merchandise, faulty goods, and branded textiles requiring secure destruction.
Our reporting tools provided clear metrics that the Foundation could share with donors, supporters, and partners to demonstrate the real environmental impact of their sustainability efforts.
More than 700kg of textiles were diverted from landfill during the first collection, equating to 2400+ kg of CO₂ savings. Over the year, McGrath Foundation strengthened its environmental commitments, reduced waste costs, and delivered a meaningful sustainability story that aligned with its mission to support Australian communities.
